Troubleshooting Uploads

Every completed survey shows up in the volunteer’s Past Surveys list. After a few seconds, the icon next to it should switch to a check mark — that means the submission has uploaded. If it doesn’t, here’s how to get the data through.

1. Check the internet connection

This is the cause almost every time. Confirm the phone has data or Wi-Fi turned on and that there’s actual signal. Once the phone is online, Hyperion will upload queued submissions automatically — no action needed from the volunteer.

2. Trigger an upload manually

In Past Surveys, tap See all, then tap the Upload button in the top right. This retries the upload for anything still pending.

3. Use the escape hatch

If a submission still won’t upload after the phone is back online and the manual upload has been tried, there’s a hidden recovery option: tap the Past Surveys header. This copies all unuploaded data to the clipboard. The volunteer can paste it into an email to zak@hyperiondata.io and the data will get added to your count.

This step is hidden by design — volunteers shouldn’t normally be able to access submission data — so use it only when nothing else has worked.
